RYA Helmsmans Course This is a two day introductory course to Motor-Cruising covers basic
boat handling, safety procedures and navigation.
During the course
you'll learn the basics of berthing 'stern to' as is common in the
Mediterranean as well as the more conventional alongside style. The technique
for man overboard recovery is also an important part of the syllabus.
RYA Day Skipper This four day course develops boat handling, pilotage, seamanship
and navigation.
The course also introduces the techniques of night
pilotage. Anchoring procedures are also developed in this course, helping to
ensure you select the best position to be able to relax in confidence
On successful completion of this course you will be able to confidently
skipper a Motor-Cruiser in familiar waters by day.
UK residents/
passport holders will also be able to apply to the Royal Yachting Association
for an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) for
vessels upto 24 metres in length.
The RYA Dayskipper is also useful for
proffesional yacht crew wishing to gain their Yacht Rating Certificate.
